Your Life is not your Circumstances
Do you ever consider how each day you are allowed the breath you have borrowed from God, you are being shaped largely by how you interact with the circumstances where He has placed you?
Our circumstances don't determine or define who we are, but rather serve to uncover and expose us to ourselves, to help us discover our heart's need and drive us to Christ. Because we all live in a deeper place than what is visible from... the outside. We live in our thoughts, our motivations, our affections and desires. So how we engage with our circumstances, from day to day, is indicative to who we really are....and instrumental in forming who we will become.
What has real and lasting value is not found in our shifting, changing circumstances, but rather in an inward life that's being cultivated and grown in Christ. And true success in this life belongs to those who embrace their circumstances (however mean they may appear) as gifts from the God who lovingly designed them to develop our life in Christ and prepare us for His kingdom. For truly our personal value and distinction is summed up in all that He is.
"If you then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with Him in glory." (Col. 3:1-4)
